Facadism- as supported and funded in UNESCO World Heritage Sites

According to news on BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7798139.stm), in Brussels the council wants to either force landlords to restore derelict buildings or buy them up itself, to upgrade areas surrounding the Grand Place. Experince shows that, focusing on physical environment and its static preservation through enforcement will not encourage long term liveliness of historic environments. Rather, a steril appearance and a deserted urban quarter (outside the tourism seasons) might be promoted.

A new hope for Hasankeyf

Hasankeyf deserves to be designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Lets hope that the new developments will make Turkish Government understand that Ilisu project is a mistake!
